The Member for Dubbo Troy Grant has welcomed today's decision by the NSW Government to provide free photo identification cards for seniors and carers throughout the state.

"Any initiate that eases cost of living burden on seniors and carers in the Dubbo electorate and that recognises the integral role that these groups play in our community should be welcomed," said Mr Grant.

"The NSW Liberals & Nationals pledged to provide this important cost saving to seniors during the election campaign and it's encouraging to see that we have gone beyond that commitment by deciding that NSW Photo Cards should be free of charge."

The free card is available only to eligible seniors and carers who do not have a NSW driver’s licence.

The card previously cost $48 for five years. Eligible carers and Seniors Card holders may apply for their free Photo Card at any Roads and Maritime Services registry.
