Transport assistance grants are being offered to enable women in isolated areas the opportunity to attend the NSW Rural Women’s Gathering in Parkes, the Member for Dubbo Troy Grant said today.

Six thousand dollars will be made available by the NSW Government to subsidise CountryLink fares, assist with the cost of privately chartered buses and hire buses to transport participants between venues in Parkes.

The NSW Rural Women’s Gathering is a joint initiative between Transport for NSW, NSW Department of Primary Industries and Parkes Shire Council.

The three day event on the 12th to 14th October includes educational workshops and presentations by prominent women in the community.

“Each year the Rural Women’s Gathering is hosted by a regional town in NSW via a competitive bidding process," said Mr Grant.

"The people of Parkes are hoping to make the event the most successful one to date and the funding from Transport for NSW will help achieve that."

Mr Grant said women in regional areas across NSW are encouraged to attend and make use of the transport services now available.

“This also includes picking up and dropping off participants in Dubbo to connect with CountryLink services.”
