SYDNEY PROPERTY DEVELOPERS TOUR DUBBO

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

A group of 15 Sydney-based property developers are on a two-day tour of potential residential developments in Mudgee and Dubbo this week as part of a NSW Government-backed initiative to boost the construction of new homes in the Orana region.
The Member for Dubbo Troy Grant said the tour was initiated in response to increased demand for new residential developments in the region.

“Both Mudgee and Dubbo have a thriving or emerging mining industry, resulting in a growing need for more housing for employees and their families,” Mr Grant said.

“NSW Trade and Investment has partnered with the Mid-Western Regional Council and Dubbo City Council to showcase the range of development opportunities on offer.

“I’m pleased to say that a number of metro-based property developers have taken up our invitation to explore the opportunities available in Mudgee and Dubbo.

“In each area the developers will view the available land and representatives from both councils will be available to answer questions from the tour participants.”

Mr Grant said that any development deals resulting from the tour would benefit the region’s small businesses and local construction industry.

“This tour has the potential to become a real boom for the Orana region’s construction industry. Additional housing will also help the local mining industry to attract skilled employees to the area," said Mr Grant.

“The NSW Government’s Regional Relocation Grant will also act as an added incentive to entice people to move to the Orana region. The grant offers a $7,000 incentive to people who sell their home in Sydney and move to a regional NSW community.

“The grant, together with our policies which will ensure that regions get their fair share of jobs growth and infrastructure spending, will play an important role in getting the NSW economy moving again.

“This is just one of a number of measures the NSW Government is implementing to attract more people, growth and investment into regional areas.”

The tour visited Mudgee on Tuesday 20th September and then Dubbo on Wednesday 21st September.

The Property Developers Tour was organised by the NSW Government through the NSW Department of Trade and Investment. For more information on the department’s programs, visit www.business.nsw.gov.au/region
