$30,000 FOR IMPROVEMENTS TO PEAK HILL SHOWGROUND

Thursday, June 07, 2012
The Member for Dubbo Troy Grant is pleased to welcome the NSW Governments announcement to fund an upgrade of the Peak Hill Showground.

Deputy Premier and Minister for Trade and Investment Andrew Stoner said more than $30,000 in funds has been set aside for the improvements including a bar and canteen upgrade.

“The funds are being made available in a combination of grants and loans to the showground for their ongoing development and maintenance,” Mr Stoner said.

Mr Grant said the Peak Hill showground, and many others like it in rural and regional NSW, host agricultural shows and other events that bring the community together.

“They are fantastic community assets that have a special local significance,” Mr Grant said.

“The $30,000 in funds will go towards a bar and canteen upgrade at the showground,” he said.

The funds, a grant of $15,000 and loan of $15,000 will be made available to the Peak Hill Showground Trust and will replace a previous offer of funding that was to go towards the building of an amenities block and a septic tank.

This funding is available through the Public Reserves Management Fund managed by the Crown Lands division of the Department of Primary Industries.

The fund provides for improvements and new works at Crown land reserves, parks, showgrounds, caravan parks and walking tracks.

The total showground budget this financial year is $1 million, a $250,000 increase over the previous year.
