The Premier of NSW, the Honourable Barry O'Farrell, presented community service awards to two of Dubbo's finest volunteers at a special ceremony at the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) Base in Dubbo, the Member for Dubbo Troy Grant said today.

Both Judy Jakins and Andrew McKay have long standing records of support for the RFDS and other worthwhile community organisations within the region.

The pair were honoured at an afternoon tea attended by the Premier and Minister for Health Jillian Skinner, in the presence of some 130 invited guests.

"Judy and Andrew have given tirelessly to their communities, both are deserving recipients of the NSW Government Community Service Award," said Mr Grant.

"This award recognises people throughout NSW who have substantially contributed to the improvement of the quality of life of members of their community, beyond that expected in their usual occupation."

Both Judy and Andrew received an engraved Award as well as an official certificate bearing the NSW State Coat of Arms and the Premier’s signature.

Whilst in Dubbo, Mr O'Farrell also turned a sod at the soon to commence $79.8m Dubbo Base Hospital re-development with Minister Skinner and Mr Grant.

"The Premier's visit underlined his keen interest in the electorate and his commitment to delivering improved infrastructure and services to regional communities."
