Three volunteer run community museums in the Dubbo electorate are among museums across the state sharing in over $50,000 of NSW Government funding.

"The funding administered by Museums & Galleries NSW, will go towards a broad range of activity including short-term collection projects and collection development projects with mid to long term outcomes," said Mr Grant.

Canowindra's Age of Fishes Museum will receive $1,566 towards installation of an interactive touch screen purchased from local businesses which will complement the existing exhibitions, geological discovery activities and education program.

The Canowindra Museum will receive $1,890 to install a sensor-activated sound scape in the shearing shed located in the museum grounds. The shearing shed is a relocated building which houses a collection illustrating the history of wool growing in the local area.

The Narromine Aviation Museum will receive $1,000 to upgrade its display lighting by purchasing LED lighting.

The funding is part of the NSW Government’s commitment to supporting arts and cultural activities in NSW.

"Volunteer-run museums across NSW make an important contribution to the life of local communities, it's important they are recognised," said Mr Grant.

"The projects also offer valuable skills development opportunities for volunteers."
