The Member for Dubbo Troy Grant is not persuaded by the strength of the arguments in favour of dismantling Dubbo's Apollo Estate.

Mr Grant expressed hesitation at moves to scatter social housing residents throughout the Dubbo community in the absence of a comprehensive analysis of the likely benefits and disadvantaged of adopting such an approach.

"Dubbo Mayor Mathew Dickerson is entitled to his view of the Apollo Estate but the issue is a complex one that does not readily lend itself to a close comparison with events at the Gordon Estate in the past," said Mr Grant.

"I don't share the Mayor's enthusiasm for dismantling the Apollo Estate prior to a detailed examination taking place.

"It's worth remembering that not everyone was in favour of the breakup of the Gordon Estate. That decision was made to bring an end to the multitude of problems existing in that area of town.

"It has often proven easier to control an issue within a limited geographic area, there is a lot of thought that needs to go into this. Its fate should not be determined in response to a knee jerk reaction."
