The Member for Dubbo Troy Grant has welcomed CountryLink's decision to bring forward its 'Elvis Express' service due to overwhelming popular demand, for next year’s CountryLink Parkes Elvis Festival.

The ‘Elvis Express’ will now leave a day earlier from Sydney’s Central Station on Thursday, 10 January 2013 rather than the traditional Friday departure date following feedback from festival organisers and Elvis fans.

"I have been advised that CountryLink made the decision to start the service a day earlier after seventy percent of respondents to a survey about the Elvis Express departure date requested CountryLink make the change,” Mr Grant said.

The extra day will give visitors to Parkes the chance to take advantage of more of the Festival’s activities, such as free main stage entertainment and the Miss Priscilla Dinner.

“Nearly 400 Elvis fans joined the Elvis Express in a sold-out, all shook up, eight-carriage XPT train in 2012 and I'm pleased to learn that CountryLink will continue their support of this great regional event.”

The Elvis Express will depart Sydney on 10 January 2013, and return on Monday 14 January 2013.

CountryLink will release Elvis Express tickets for sale later this year. Fans that would like to be notified when the tickets go on sale should call CountryLink on 132 232.
