Member for Dubbo Troy Grant has released the first image of what the new Mudgee Hospital will look like saying he was excited to see the completed schematic designs.

“The design team have done a superb job on the plans for the new hospital,” Mr Grant said.  “This is the NSW Government delivering on our commitment to the community, the schematic design is the first opportunity the staff and the community will have to see how the new hospital will look.”

The $70.2 million Mudgee Hospital redevelopment involves a major upgrade to the existing health service, focusing on the expansion of inpatient and ambulatory care services.

The upgraded Mudgee Health Service will continue to be a hub for health services for people living in the Mid-Western Regional local government area.

Mr Grant said further rounds community consultation on the master plan will be held over the coming months.

“This is an exciting time for the Mudgee community and community input into the redevelopment is vital,” Mr Grant said.

“The redevelopment will include a new emergency department, general medical and surgical units, perio-operative units, a maternity unit, ambulatory care, oral health, renal dialysis and oncology.”

“In conjunction with the design launch, community drop in sessions will be held in the coming weeks to allow the project team to answer any questions the community has.” said Mr Grant.

Early work on the new hospital is expected to commence in mid-2018 with construction to be underway by the end of the year.
